Embarking on a hands-on, artistic journey, this degree project delves into an ancient method within the context of a modern world seemingly devoid of meaning.

The focus is on urushi, a traditional Japanese lacquerware technique and material. Driven by a passion for learning and my fascination with urushi, the project aims to reintroduce and elevate the value of this ancient technique in Sweden and beyond. Urushi, a biological material with tactile properties akin to plastic, challenges the conventional perception of cheap and disposable objects. The project explores the possibility of creating objects with value and a connection between the user and the object.

My degree project manifests its findings in the form of a micro interior with a series of objects, showcasing the creative process.
