Interior Architecture and Furniture Design

In this year’s Degree Exhibition, the students in the bachelor’s programme Interior Architecture and Furniture Design are exhibiting degree projects related to the existing building stock and the sustainable design of both interiors and spatial objects. Through studies in material flow, craftsmanship in reuse, and the reprogramming and rereading of spaces and components, they examine new opportunities to exert influence as interior architects and furniture designers during a time in which both technology and climate are in a state of accelerated change. They have closely studied their own working processes, and the desire to understand and challenge their own relationships to form and shape has created new tools and processes in which their own life experiences have a pronounced role. In several degree projects, the students explore possibilities in common spaces – places that turn outwards in a generous movement, inviting encounters and mutual sharing and learning. Space for learning and sharing can energize an area at risk of demolition and the designs of objects make their users aware of how they care for material resources. The students approach their subjects with both care and a critical eye and, by challenging techniques, rules and boundaries, they propose new paths within interior architecture and furniture design.
