Never before have so many people been on sick leave due to stress. Mental ill-health currently accounts for over half of all cases of long-term illness, and stress-related cases are the most common of these. Regardless of whether you have a stressful day or if you are ill from stress, a 30-minute walk significantly decreases stress hormone levels.
I think that it is possible to change people’s attitudes towards themselves through knowledge and awareness. In my degree project, I have installed art in places along a walking path to encourage movement. The artworks show the way along the entire path or the parts you are walking.
The different works are influenced by more than 200 people. I have interviewed all of these about their dreams for the future. After mapping and analysis, I’ve created objects and art that guide the walker along a predetermined loop.
