Callum Miller

My degree project is an interdisciplinary design proposal, focused on creating interventions in response to the climate crisis, urban densification, and public health. These issues are being approached through the implementation of cycling infrastructure, the redistribution of street space, and by lowering the barrier of entry to cycling.

The project addresses the issue from three angles: system design, urban architecture, and product design. In designing with key aspects from each of these fields, a more cohesive picture of what a car-free city might look like can be seen, as well as a broad understanding of how life in this city would change.

The material that represents the project crosses multiple scales, from the details and technologies of bike design, to the conceptualisation of citywide urban planning, and the creation of new spaces for people and their bikes.

I believe that to fight the climate crisis, we must all make changes, and do so together.
