I Go On Endlessly, There Is No Edge
Through the shutters and rain showers, a tired body remembers lemon yellow. Now we walk into two places at once as though dreaming in two languages, tending a new vocabulary like a garden.
Aurea Tanttu (b. 1996, Finland) is a painter whose practice deals with the entanglement of the mundane with the sublime, and works mainly with oil colour on jute and wood panel. She often works with the subject of a familiar place but viewed from afar, skewing its scale and reality. The roughness of the jute canvases correlate with the disappearance of images as they travel through space and lose detail. A configuration of a photograph emerges in a drawing or painting and is translated into a new sensory plane.
