My degree project aims to understand the loss of habitats for beings/creatures due to human intervention in public spaces. We occupy space when we build, whether it’s houses, public art, etc. With this sculpture/artefact, I aim to share space with more than just humans. The beings that I am working with are solitary bees. Solitary bees don’t live in a colony like honey bees. We can formulate it like this; they live in single households. Many of these bees are facing challenges in the housing market, much like many others, and they are essential pollinators. So, how can we help these pollinators with public artefacts/art? How can we combine housing for beings other than humans and public artefacts/art?
