Longing for Touch is a series of sensorial objects intended to evoke the curiosity of our senses. We are living in the Digital Age, spending a lot of our time in front of screens.
As a result of this digitisation where experiences are reproduced through smooth surfaces, the analogue materiality disappears and is replaced by a digital version. By experiencing things just through our vision, our tactile sense does not get challenged, since our vision only reveals what the tactile sense already knows.
I have a fascination about how we as humans are drawn towards things that disgust us and I’m interested in the tension these contradicting feelings create. By focusing on aesthetics while playing with elements of disgust, I create objects we are drawn to touch.
