There is something magical about candy. It embodies the wonder of childhood. It has the ability to transport me back to a time that seemed simpler. For me, childhood embodies the feeling of infinite creativity without expectations, even if it can be seen as an illusion.
I use iron to create works that reflect the dualities that connect my ideas. It’s a distortion between the hard iron from which the pieces are made and the visual that tries to mimic candy jewellery. It becomes a reflection of the light and dark aspects of creativity.
The focus of the work is the iron and a reminder to myself to learn not to overcomplicate my work but to let myself be free in its making.
