Malin Uhlén

In my degree project, I create the conditions for ceramic materials to deform. Imperfection has become part of my sculptural expression and I am captivated by the attributes of clay. I explore what are commonly viewed as mistakes, which lead to other possibilities in my process. I question — what more can these materials do?

Matter transforms, and time is warped by the influence of matter. The universe bends and moves. Our understanding of the physical world is constantly changing and through experiences and discoveries, we gain more knowledge about our world. We form theories of what we know right now, which are as dynamic as the materials within it. There is still much that we do not know, but by acknowledging this, we can search for understanding within the unknown.
